The wave of djent continues! UK metal band Vexed have announced their upcoming debut album Culling Culture. It will be released via Napalm Records on May 21, 2021. Vexed released two standalone singles Elite – features CJ McMahon from Thy Art Is Murder, and Dominate, and now release new single Hideous from their upcoming album.

Things look seriously positive for this new group. I have been impressed with their 2 singles so far, and Hideous follows that trend. Sitting somewhere on the djent/prog/deathcore spectrum, but not straying too far into the prog spectrum, leaving plenty of straight forward pumping groove to show off your head banging skills. I am excited to see what they can produce on a full length release.

Check out new single Hideous below.

VEXED commented on their first single:

“It gives us great satisfaction to share with you our Grindhouse inspired music video for our debut single, Hideous. Fueled by the feeling of ‘seeing red’ and having to decide how to react in moments of betrayal and rage, do you let your blood boil over or sit and wait for the killing instinct to pass?”

It appears that Culling Culture is going to take the fight to the ‘cancel culture’ that plagues our social media universe at present. I expect aggression, bite, technical proficiency, and a plethora of death growls. Sign me up!

Be sure to check out the release of Culling Culture, out May 21, 2021.
