New Metal Blog
Welcome to your new blog on all things metal. So I have been listening to metal for over 20 years now. I grew up listening to all sorts of rubbish (I did grow up in the 90s). But it wasn’t until I discovered metal that I found my musical identity, and I haven’t looked back since.
Accordingly I got inspired to start writing this blog on metal music to share my thoughts and ramblings, find and experience new music, and share it out to the galaxy. Here I will give my thoughts on new albums, old albums, looking at things in a new light and try to spark some new lines of inspiration for you. Equal parts cerebral, and equal parts drivel.
Heavy Metal has been around for almost 6 decades now and of genres of music, generates the most passion from its fans. Therefore other music will come and go, but heavy metal is eternal!
New Extreme Metal Supergroup
As a first piece of news (albeit a couple of weeks old now) the formation of the supergroup Wizardthrone has me insanely excited. Members of Alestorm, Gloryhammer, Nekrogoblikon, Aether Realm and Forlorn Citadel joining forces. Wizards making extreme metal, describing their influences including Wintersun. I’m expecting some melodeath!

And a first band to recommend, please check out Finnish Folk Metal/Melodeath band Drakum. If you are a fan of Ensiferum, Wintersun or Finntroll then you will definitely enjoy Drakum. Heavy focus on melodic patterns, with a nice balance of guitar melodies bringing out the melodeath vibes mixed with the violin melodies keeping it rooted in folk metal.
Their new album, Zombie Dragons from Outer Space came out earlier this year. Check out the lead single from the album, Urashima below:
I hope you all enjoy the new site. Check out my other blog articles here.
