Is there a better way to kick off the long Easter bank holiday weekend than with a sharp dose of savage blackened death metal? I’m waiting….. no didn’t think so. Hailing from the heavy metal homeland of the UK’s middle lands, Infested Angel have released their debut EP Nourish Me, Satan.
Spanning 3 tracks and 14 minutes, debut EP Nourish Me, Satan is a full throttle, no nonsense journey through the predecessors of black and death metal past. There has been a resurgence in old school death metal recently, which I take every opportunity to promote. Here we have an exemplary example of the bulldozing black metal influenced death metal straight from the icy tundra of hell’s darkest caverns.
As a debut release goes, this showcases the intense talent these unholy abominations can deliver. Opening track Ruiner wastes no time in settling the scene for sludging, guttural filth, before exploding to life in high tempo wailing black metal savagery. The pain is real, the hopelessness is tangible. My consciousness is already lost in a frozen forest of depravity and immorality.
Infested Angel are a death metal band hailing from Birmingham, UK. Fuelled by vicious blastbeats and abject misery, their music is a visceral excursion through the depths of hell. In a climate of old school death metal pastiche, their music is no bullshit homage to their genre forefathers. Debut EP Nourish Me, Satan introduces the darkness they continue to conceive.
Recording and mixing was carried out by Shaun Lowe of Prism Studios. The album artwork is by David Appleby and photography by Geoffrey De Santis-Burke.
