Dystopian Syndrome is the debut album from San Francisco based Molten. The follow-up to their 2019 issued eponymous EP was released digitally by the band in January, spewing forth a scorching salvo of Bay Area thrash strewn with gory bits of death metal savagery.
Blurring the lines between thrash and melodic death metal, Molten‘s debut album provides a solid introduction to how their career can develop. Plenty of ripping guitar leads and solos harking back to the 70s and 80s metal scenes. Heavily doom influenced interludes. There are many twists and turns throughout 42 minutes of headbanging mayhem.
Zombie’s Curse turns the tables to classic 80s hardcore/thrash. With it’s galloping rhythm, haunting vocals, and riffs for days, Zombie’s Curse turns back the time, and cranks up the nostalgia. It’s very much the theme of this album – mostly organised chaos, keeping you guessing all the way. As debut albums go, you couldn’t really ask for much more.
The album was recorded and mixed by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios (Ulthar, Vastum, Deathgrave). It was mastered by Justin Weis at Trakworx, the album is completed with artwork by Pedro Felipe Oliveira. Upon its release, the album was met with critical acclaim from a wide array of media outlets spanning the metal underworld and beyond.
Molten has also been booked to host a Gimme Metal guest DJ spot which will air at www.gimmemetal.com on May 7th.
